Some Salesforce customers find that the API Requests, Last 24 Hours value displayed on the Company Information page in Setup does not match the values displayed in the API Usage Last 7 Days standard report. This article explains why these two values differ and how each metric is calculated.

There are two locations within Salesforce where you can view API calls consumed. Each uses a different time-based calculation method, which is why they do not match directly.
The API Requests, Last 24 Hours field is located within the Company Information section in Setup. This value shows the total number of API calls consumed within the last 24-hour rolling window. For example, API calls consumed at 12:36 PM on Tuesday are not released back for use until 12:36 PM on Wednesday. Any calls consumed continue to count toward this total until that 24-hour window expires.
The API Usage Last 7 Days report is a standard report available in the Administrative Reports folder. This report displays API call consumption based on the calendar day each individual call was made.
While both sources relay similar information, they should not be used in direct comparison with each other. For example, an API call consumed on Tuesday evening still contributes to the "API Requests, Last 24 Hours" field count until Wednesday evening — when that 24-hour window expires. That same call appears in the API Usage Last 7 Days report as a Tuesday call and has no impact on Wednesday's reported volume.
This means on Wednesday, the "API Requests, Last 24 Hours" field may still reflect Tuesday's calls, while the report shows zero usage for Wednesday so far.
