Last Refresh Date does not update after Dashboard is refreshed

Publish Date: May 26, 2026
Description

When a dashboard is refreshed, the Last Refresh Date will not update if one or more of the reports used for the dashboard's components cannot be run by the dashboard's running user.

This typically occurs because the running user lacks access to one or more of the fields used to filter these reports.

Resolution
When a Salesforce Dashboard is refreshed, the Last Refresh Date only updates if all report components can be successfully run by the dashboard's running user. If any report uses a field that the running user cannot access due to Field Level Security (FLS) or Field Level Accessibility restrictions, the refresh fails silently and the Last Refresh Date does not update.

Troubleshoot your dashboard component:
  1. Log in as the running user.
  2. Access the dashboard in question.
  3. Click each of the dashboard's components.
The components causing the issue will load to the Report Builder and will likely display an error. From here, you can confirm which filters are no longer accessible by comparing the filter list with those of a user who can run the dashboard refresh successfully.

Preventing the Last Refresh Date Issue in the Future

Once the missing field is identified, go to Setup and confirm that the field is accessible in both the Field Level Security and Field Level Accessibility sections for the user experiencing the problem.
