          Improve Dashboard Performance

Dashboard refresh times can vary based on available resources. Since Salesforce is built on a multi-tenant structure, dashboard refreshes are processed in a queue. Refreshes tend to complete faster off peak hours, when more resources are available. Other factors like caching can also affect dashboard refresh times.

In Salesforce Classic, widgets are called components.

Dashboard performance depends mainly on the performance of its source reports. If a dashboard is refreshing slowly, examine each report to find the ones that are running slowly.

A performance degradation can also affect the Dashboard performance. These degradations are instance-specific and can be checked at status.salesforce.com/status.

Dashboard widgets that include Visualforce pages can cause performance issues. To identify widgets that use Visualforce pages, edit them. Widgets using Visualforce pages have Visualforce Page as the chart type.
