Sometimes, a single number can provide a quick and critical measurement of the business. For example, the total number of open support cases and number of new support cases open this week are key metrics that a service manager would find very useful. Add Number widgets to provide key indicators to a dashboard.

Open the Opportunities dataset, and click to calculate the total value of all opportunities in the pipeline.
In the measure picker, select Sum from the left column.
Pick a dataset field from the right column that you would like to sum. In this case, select Amount.
Don’t add any groupings. A number, by definition, consists of just one group. Later, you will add a chart that shows the value for different groupings.
While we’re here, let’s add another kind of measure to bring more context to the story that we’re telling with this dashboard. For example, you can select Count of isWon to get the number of successfully closed deals.
Click to clip this lens to the designer.
If you have multiple dashboards, the lens is clipped to whichever dashboard you had open last.
In the dashboard designer, click the number widget () to create an empty number widget, and then select the first clipped lens that contains a sum of amount.
The number that appears in the number widget is the first measure (on the far left) that you specified in the lens.
To choose a different measure from the lens or configure other useful properties, select the Number widget and set the properties in the Widget Properties section.
Give the widget a title. The default title, which is taken from the field name, is sometimes too cryptic for the audience.
For a large number, select Shorten number to reduce the length of the display. Doing so turns a number such as 2,148,352 into the more readable 2M.
Using the same procedure, add another number widget based on the second clipped lens that provides a count of won deals.
Your dashboard now contains the two number widgets.
