With Chatter’s built-in instant messaging client, Chatter Messenger, the Chatter users in your organization can securely chat with other Chatter users. Chat is enabled by default.
Chatter Messenger can also be included as widget in Visualforce pages.

Chatter Messenger is not available in new orgs created after the Spring ’16 release.
To disable the Chatter Messenger from Setup, enter Chat Settings
in the Quick Find
box, select Chat Settings
, and deselect Enable Chat
To allow a Chat widget to be included in Visualforce pages, select Allow
under Visualforce Settings. To prevent the chat widget from displaying on a specific Visualforce page, do any of the following:
- Turn off the Salesforce tab header on your page by setting <apex:page showHeader=”false”>.
- Set the page contentType to something other than text/html, for example, <apex:page contentType="text/plain">.
