What is the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)?

Description We would like to know what Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) is and how it can be used for our Nonprofit organization. Previously this package was known as the Nonprofit Starter Pack.

What is the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)?

The Nonprofit Success Pack NPSP (formerly known as "Nonprofit Starter Pack) is a set of managed packages developed and maintained by and made available for free via the Salesforce AppExchange. It allows nonprofits to better manage some common nonprofit business processes. It is currently compatible with Salesforce Classic, but not with Lightning. More information can be found at

Since the Nonprofit Success Pack is a set of managed packages here is the list of the packages that make it up. Packages cannot be installed individually, as the the NPSP Installer Package will install them all. The list of these packages can be found by looking in your organization's instance of Salesforce and going to the click path: App Setup | Deploy | Installed Packages". Here are the packages that make up NPSP 3.0:

How can NPSP help a Nonprofit Organization using Salesforce?

The Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) is an app that sits on top of Salesforce Enterprise Edition. NPSP is preconfigured for nonprofits as an-easy-to-use fundraising and constituent management application, designed to make the daily life of nonprofits a little easier. NPSP is a free, open-source product developed in partnership with the community, NPSP is built specifically with the needs of nonprofits in mind. Whether your organization is all-volunteer, moderately staffed, or well-established and resourced, the Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) will help you advance your mission - as it's doing everyday for tens of thousands of nonprofits.

NPSP can your organization:
  • Manage your contacts and households, donation payments, organization accounts and affiliations, and grant lifecycles
  • Track relationships between contacts, donations and recurring donations

Where can I go to get help for the Nonprofit Success Pack?

If you have a technical question you can create a case with Salesforce Support (please make sure that in the description you ask for the case to be directed to the Support Team). If you need Advice or help setting up NPSP you can reach out on the Power of Us Hub, an online community for customers. The Hub is a community based support where both employees, Salesforce Nonprofit Partners (Consultants), and other customers can go to receive help, get advice, and support. To receive help with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) please do the following:

        1.) Go to: Once there login using your Salesforce username and password.
        2.) After you log in will see in the middle of the page "Ask the community" box, There ask your question.

        3.) If you do not see an article below that answers your question you will need to add more details about your question in the box provided, and then click the "Next choose where to ask" button.

        4.) Next you will need to check off the box for the Expert Chatter group "Nonprofit Success Pack" where you can post your question. After you click on the group click the "Ask" button.

After you do the above a Employee, Salesforce Partner (Consultant), and/or another Customer will reach out to you asking you for further information or to provide you with the answer. You will usually receive a response from anywhere within 1 minute to 3 hours.
