How do I add an email link in an email template?

Resolution

This solution applies for HTML templates using Letterhead and Custom templates without LetterHead, NOT for text templates.

Suppose that your template shows this :
John Smith
Acme Technologies Corp.
john.smith@acmecorp.com

You want the email address to appear as a link that opens a new email addressed to john.smith@acmecorp.com.

for HTML templates using Letterhead :
**************************************
1. Click on the link to edit the email template.

2. Select the email address "john.smith@acmecorp.com" with the mouse.

3. Click on the link button in the toolbar at the top of the template (this symbol is used to insert hyperlinks).

4. Enter "mailto:john.smith@acmecorp.com" in the window that pops up.

5. Click "Save".

You can also select "John Smith" instead of the email address, and follow the same steps. This way your name can also appear as an email link.

for Custom template without LetterHead :
********************************************
1. Click on the link to edit the email template.

2. Instead of "john.smith@acmecorp.com", enter this :
<a href="mailto:john.smith@acmecorp.com">john.smith@acmecorp.com</a>

3. Click "Save".

And if you want your name to appear as an email link instead of the email address itself, you can replace this with :

<a href="mailto:john.smith@acmecorp.com">John Smith</a>
 <a href="mailto:homer@example.com">Email Homer</a>
