Reset passcode for Salesforce Classic

Knowledge Article Number 000005168
Resolution

Here's what to do if you've forgotten your Salesforce Classic mobile passcode or if need to change your passcode for any reason:

1. Uninstall Salesforce Classic from your mobile device.
2. Reinstall Salesforce Classic to your mobile device.
3. Log in to Salesforce Classic with your Salesforce username and password.
4. Enter a new mobile passcode to use each time you log in to the app.

Note: For your security, Salesforce does not have access to your mobile passcode. Also keep in mind: your passcode will be deactivated immediately for all mobile clients if it's entered incorrectly 10 times in a row or if your Salesforce administrator uses the "Erase Data" feature under "Users and Devices."

Passcode and password differences

There are two areas in Salesforce Classic and Classic Lite that require either a password or passcode.

  • Password (initial access) - Your Salesforce username and password are required to install and activate the app for the first time.
  • Passcode (subsequent access) - After activation, you'll create a mobile-specific passcode that you'll use each time you log in to the app. Your passcode is different than your Salesforce password and won't change if your Salesforce password changes.
