How can I customize my tasks and events page layouts?

Resolution

It is possible for administrators to edit the custom fields and page layouts task and event pages in the Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions of Salesforce.

Follow the steps below to customize the tasks or event pages.

1. Click on:

Setup | App Setup(original interface) | Customize | Activities.
Setup | Build(improved interface) | Customize | Activities.

2. Click the appropriate link.

From the Task Page Layout, administrators can customize the layout of fields on the task page, as well as customize the values of standard field picklists.

From the Event Page Layout, administrators can customize the layout of fields on the event page, as well as customize the values of standard field picklists.

Administrators can add up to 10 custom fields to activities by clicking on the activity custom field link. These custom fields may be used in page layouts for either tasks or events, or both.

By sharing the custom fields for both tasks and events managers are able to report on these fields across all activities.
