Why can I not send and/or receive emails with Gmail to Salesforce?

Resolution

While activating the Gmail integration portion of Salesforce for Google Apps, users may receive error messages when trying to send emails from Gmail:

"554 Transaction failed: user@company.com is not authorized to send emails to this service."

The error is because the user needs to configure their "My Email to Salesforce" settings to receive email from the address they are sending from.
This is a good thing -- it is setup to stop Spam being processed by the Google apps integration and the Email to Salesforce process.. The user needs to configure these acceptable email addresses in "My Email to Salesforce":

1. Navigate to Setup > Personal Setup > Email > My Email to Salesforce
2. In My Email Addresses, Scroll down to
My Acceptable Email Addresses enter each email address that the user uses to email leads and contacts. Make sure to separate each email address with commas.
3. Click Save
.
