Generating iPhone Device Logs

Description There are some instances in which our development team may need to get more details via logging than what is provided on the salesforce mobile or Chatter client logs. It is possible to gather the iOS device logs. Steps covered below.
Resolution

To generate iPhone device logs for iOS 7:

  1. Download the iPhone Configuration Utility, (available for Mac and PC) from the Apple website: http://support.apple.com/downloads/# iPhone Configuration Utility
  2. Install and open the program.
  3. Connect the iOS device to the PC/MAC. Under devices, select the correct connected device and open the console tab. The days logs will be displayed.
  4. Save the log and email to your support representative.

Starting in iOS 8, the above steps are not possible.  Please see below:
 

To generate iPhone device logs on your PC through the Program itools:

1. Install itools from this location http://itools-for-windows.en.softonic.com/

2. Connect Your device to Windows. click on itools->Under iPhone->>Advanced->System logs.

3. Save the log and email to your support representative

 


NOTE:  iOS logs can also be found in the following locations below. Please keep in mind that these logs are much more difficult to read than those of the config utility program. You'll need to sync the device to your machine before you see these files.


Locations:
    * Mac OS X : ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>
    * Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/<DEVICE_NAME>
    * Windows Vista: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>
