When will API create() or update() calls trigger the assignment rules?

Description If you find assignment rules (Territory Management rules included) are not being fired when creating/updating records via the API, you may need to set the AssignmentRuleHeader.
Resolution

In order to fire the assignment rules after an Update call, you have to set the AssignmentRuleHeader.  How to do this is detailed in the SOAP API Developer guide:
