Unable to uninstall Outlook plugin from the computer

You will try to uninstall the program but nothing would happen, or the uninstallation process may fail, and sometimes you might see an error message like the one below popping up on the screen

Sometimes you are unable to uninstall an application from your computer. It can be related to a corrupted cached file on your computer or some issues related to your Windows MSI installer.


"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package.
The error code 2869"




It is best to contact your internal Help Desk and ask them to assist you with this issue but if you do not have an internal Help Desk, you can use the Microsoft utility to remove and reinstall Salesforce for Outlook or any other applications that you are having an issue with

The following steps will provide a work around that you or your internal IT team may use to uninstall the problematic application from your machine. We use the new Microsoft utility to address this issue. This tool is called Microsoft Program Install_and_Uninstall diagcab and it is used to automatically diagnose and repair common software problems in Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10

You can use this utility to successfully uninstall a corrupted installed version of Salesforce for Outlook, you may also use these steps to uninstall any corrupted applications from your machine.
