Why is Chat not displaying?

Description I enabled Chat for my organization. Some of our users are unable to see the Chat box.
Resolution You will need to verify that Internet Explorer is not running in compatibility view. The compatibility view button is located next to the URL bar. Compatibility View is not supported and prevents Chatter Messenger from being available in IE
To disable Compatibility View in Internet Explorer:
1. Click on the Tools menu
2. Uncheck Compatibility View
3. Remove salesforce from the compatibility view settings.

Once Compatibility View is disabled, Chatter Messenger will appear.

If that doesn't work, please check if API enabled checkbox is checked.
