Workflow email to Case Team members from child custom object not working

Description I have a custom object which is the child of standard Case object. I create a workflow on this custom object and I'm able to select Case Team as the recipient of the email alert in this workflow. However, it doesn't work. The case team members never receive emails although this workflow is triggered successfully.
Resolution This is working as product design.

Sending email to Case Team only works on Case object or Case Comment object. Both of them are standard objects. For custom objects ( any child of case object), although you're able to select Case Team in the workflow email alert setup, it won't work.
