File fields in Knowledge articles are being generated as internal only links when sending the article as a pdf.

|Description||When a user sends an article to a case contact the File fields in the pdf that is generated show up as links that are only accessible if the user can log into the org from which they are sent.|
|Resolution||This is currently considered to be working as designed and has been investigated.
The currently suggested workaround would be to set up a public knowledge base from which the end user could access the article and the files.
Content deliveries may be another option but, this would require separate records for the file fields with their own links that would have to be included in the text of the knowledge article.
