How can I request Salesforce Support to activate TERRITORY MANAGEMENT?

Knowledge Article Number 000175737
Description

Before Salesforce Support can activate Territory Management on your organization, please review if your organization has Customizable or Collaborative Forecasting. Take note that organizations created after the Winter '12 release will have Collaborative Forecasting enabled. If your organization was created before Winter '12, most likely Customizable Forecasting is enabled.

Customizable Forecasting is the "old" version

Collaborative Forecasting is the "new" version if the org was created after Winter '12

Please read the following information that will help get the request approved.

Resolution

If Forecasting is enabled, but unsure what type is being used, this can be verified on this Click Path:   Setup > App Setup > Customize > Forecasts:

If it displays "Forecasts (Customizable)", then Customizable Forecasting enabled.

If it displays "Forecasts", then Collaborative Forecasting is enabled.

NOTE: If you are unable to determine which Forecasting type you have, log a case with Salesforce Support in Help & Training.  Include the Organization ID (Go to Setup > Admin Setup > Company Info > Salesforce Organization ID).

Salesforce Support will then advise you on which one of the two processes below to pursue:

PROCESS 1:   IF COLLABORATIVE FORECASTING IS ENABLED (newer orgs):

The turnaround time to activate Territory Management could take 1 to 2 business days as the Support Engineer needs to review the technical specifications in your org.  If the engineer determines Collaborative Forecasting is enabled, we will send you an email explaining the risks associated with disabling this feature.  Please keep in mind that we have to disable the new Collaborative Forecasts and then enable Customizable Forecasting in order to get Territory Management.

Here is the Table of Comparison on the two different Forecasting features in the following Help Link: What's the difference between the Forecasting versions?

If you wish to continue with the Territory Management activation, then we will have to deactivate Collaborative Forecasting. Please log a case in Help & Training and provide the following 9 answers below:

1. What is the Organization ID of the Salesforce org needing this feature? (navigate to setup > company profile > company information and look for Organization ID):

2. What is the best phone number to reach you as we will need to call you to verify additional information?:

3. Do you understand that you will no longer be able to use the Collaborative Forecasting feature in your Salesforce org?:

4. Do you understand that Forecast Adjustments from the Collaborative Forecasting feature will be purged and that you will plan your cutover accordingly?:

5. Do you understand that Forecast History will be purged and that you will plan your cutover accordingly?:

6. Do you understand that Quotas will be purged? You understand that you can export Forecasting Quota data prior to cutover:

7. Do you understand that the Forecast Hierarchy will be preserved as it was prior to cutover?:

8. Do you understand that once Territory Management is activated, it can't be deactivated without the loss of forecasting data and that you will have to rely on Customizable Forecasting instead of Collaborative Forecasting? (Hence why we encourage testing this first in a Trial / DEV org or a Sandbox) :

9. Are you the Salesforce System Administrator authorized on behalf of this organization to request this feature and that you understand the consequences documented below?:

This functionality is only available with the Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance and Developer Editions.

Territory Management has a broad impact on your deployment of Salesforce. To fully understand the effect of Territory Management to the areas below, we advise you to first test this feature in a non-production (sandbox) environment to stage their deployment.

Territory Management affects the following areas:  Sharing rules and access to records, Reports, Dashboards, Folders, Views, Forecasts, Groups, Account Visibility, Opportunity Visibility.

When the feature is activated, all Custom Report Type based reports will solely use the Territory Hierarchy. There is no ability to select between using the Role Hierarchy and the one defined through Territory Management.

After you have provided the above answers, Salesforce Support will then disable Collaborative Forecasting and then contact you to activate Customizable Forecasting.  Then finally, we will activate Territory Management.
