Build and customize columns in ConversationBuddy

Stream columns allow you to view, publish, and respond to posts and comments related to one or more social profiles that you have access to within your Buddy Media channel.

Build a column


1. In your Buddy Media Channel, click ConversationBuddy.
2. Click the home icon Home button in ConversationBuddy.
3. Click the tab where you want to build a column.
  • If this is your first time building a column in ConversationBuddy, there is a default blank tab called "My Tabs". It contains three default columns: Posts from Others, Posts from Brand, and Flagged. 
  • To create a new tab instead of selecting an existing tab, click the plus sign (+) to add a new tab. You can create a maximum of five tabs.
4. Click Add Column.
5. Select the column type for your column.
The first three types that are presented to you are pre-configured columns representing common stream configurations. "Custom Stream" opens a blank configuration. 
 
Post from others
Choose this column type to view all of the content  that your fans and followers have posted to your social profiles (Google+, Facebook, Twitter)
Post from brand
Choose this column type to view all of the content that you have published out to your social profiles (Google+, Facebook, Twitter) as your brand. You will see any posts you have made from ConversationBuddy or directly from the social network's site.  
Flagged
Choose this column type to display any flagged messages from your social profile.
Custom stream
Choose this column type to customize which messages appear in the stream.

6. For "Post from Others", "Posts from Brand" or "Flagged" columns, click Add to add the column immediately or Customize to further customize the column. For "Custom Stream" columns, click Add to customize your column.
If you choose to customize your columns, the Customize Column window appears.

7.  For customized columns, configure the column based on what you would like to see in the stream for this column. 
 
Column name
Enter the column name in this field. The default name varies depending on the column type selected. You can choose to update the name here to match the purpose of the stream. 
Profiles
Select the profile type to display in the column stream.
  • All profiles: Displays content from all social profiles.
  • Select profiles: Choose this to select specific profiles for display. Profiles from different social networks can be combined.
  • All Facebook: Displays content from all of your Facebook profiles.
  • All Twitter: Displays content from all of your Twitter profiles.
  • All Google+: Displays content from all of your Google+ pages.
Column type
Choose the message types that appear in the column.
  • All Sources: This column type displays posts and comments from both your brand and from others.
    • From Others: Select this option will only display posts and comments that other people post. This doesn't display posts and comments your brand makes.
    • From Brand:  Select this option to only display posts and comments that you make as your brand. This doesn't display posts and comments from others.
  • Outgoing Tweets (Twitter): View original Tweets made by your brand.  
  • Outgoing Retweets (Twitter): View Retweets made by your brand.
  • Mentions (Twitter): View @mentions directed at your Twitter profile.
  • Replies (Twitter): Only replies to posts appear. Original posts aren't displayed.
  • All Sources: Select this option to view replies to or from the profile.
  • From Others: Select this option to view replies by others to your profile's Tweets.
  • From Brand: Select this option to view replies posted by your brand.
  • Post (Facebook and Google+): View all of the posts on the profile. Comments on posts aren't displayed. 
  • Comments (Facebook and Google+): View all comments on a profile. Original posts aren't displayed.
Media
Select each of the media segments that you want in your column. A post only needs to match one of the selected media segments to appear.
  • Event (Facebook): Displays messages that contain an event attachment.
  • Links (Facebook): Displays messages that contain a link or link attachment.  
  • Images (Facebook and Google+): Displays messages that contain an image link or image attachment.  
  • Statuses (Facebook and Google+):  Displays messages that do not contain a link or media attachment. 
  • Sapplet (Facebook): Displays messages that contain a sapplet attachment. 
  • Video (Facebook and Google+): Displays messages that contain a video link or video attachment.  
Status
Segment by flagged or removed posts.
  • Flagged: Select this option to view posts that have been flagged for follow up within your Buddy Media channel.
  • Removed: Select this option to view posts that have been removed from a profile from within your Buddy Media channel. Posts that have been removed directly from the profile's page on  the social network's site are not displayed. Any time a post is removed from the profile's page in your Buddy Media channel, Buddy Media keeps a record of the post. 
Labels
Segment by Labels created within your Buddy Media channel.

1. Type the labels in the box provide.
2. Press Enter after each Label.
Targeted country/language
Segment posts by language and country. This is available for Facebook only.
  • Countries: Specify the countries where the post originate to display in your column. To select a country, begin typing the name of the country and select the country name from the dropdown list that appears. Region is determined by the IP address of the Facebook  user that posts the message.
  • Languages: Specify the Language of the messages that appear in the column. To select a language, begin typing the name of the language and select the language from the dropdown list that appears. Language is determined by the language specified in the Facebook user's profile. 
Circles
Segment by a specific Google+ circle.
 
 

7. Click Save to save your configuration and to view your column.
 

Delete a column


1. Click the in the top left corner of the column.  
2. Click Remove to confirm that you want to delete the column.
 

Edit a column


To edit a column, click on the grey gear User-added image in the top left corner of the column. The "Customize Column" window appears so you can make changes to the column.
