Salesforce Classic for BlackBerry & Chatter for BlackBerry will not be supported after Summer '14 Release
|Knowledge Article Number||000188484|
The Chatter Mobile for Blackberry and Salesforce Classic for Blackberry apps are no longer supported effective Summer ’14. This is because the BlackBerry OS platform on which these apps run is nearing the end of its lifecycle and the new BlackBerry 10 platform doesn’t support these apps. Both of these apps will remain fully functional until they are officially deprecated. There is no set EOL date set as of yet.
Users who have downloaded Chatter Mobile for Blackberry or Salesforce Classic for Blackberry on their devices can continue to use the apps. However, salesforce is no longer providing support in the form of bug fixes or enhancements for any issues your users may encounter. Chatter Mobile for Blackberry and Salesforce Classic for Blackberry continue to be available for download at: https://downloads.salesforce.com/bb.
We encourage all customers who currently use these apps to begin migrating to the Salesforce1 app on any of its supported devices/mobile platforms (e.g. iOS, Android). Summer ’14 includes new BlackBerry support for the Salesforce1 mobile browser app—see More Browser and Device support in the Summer '14 release notes.
What exactly will happen now that End of Service date passed?
now that End of Service date has passed and your org is upgraded past Summer ‘14 Release, salesforce.com will no longer provide support for these apps. However, the apps will remain fully functional and available for further download at http://downloads.salesforce.com/bb.
What action must I take?
No immediate actions are required as the apps will remain fully functional and all on-device data will be continuously synced with your org.
However, salesforce recommends you begin exploring migration of your users to the Salesforce1 App, our next generation mobile app, to ensure your mobile needs are addressed in the future. The Salesforce 1 App is available on other mobile platforms (e.g. iOS, Android).
What is the recommended replacement or workaround?
As stated above, the apps still remain fully functional for the time being, though we are encouraging all customers who currently use Salesforce Classic for BlackBerry and Chatter for BlackBerry to migrate to the Salesforce1 App on a supported device to meet your mobile needs in the future.
