Create Case in Outlook Side Panel and "Looks like there's a problem"

Description  You may see a red error when attempting to create a case through the side panel which could be the reflection of a validation rule or trigger being invoked.  You can also get other meaningful messages in this dialog box.


 
Resolution When creating cases in the side panel of Outlook using Salesforce for Outlook the cases are created through API calls.  API calls respect validation rules, triggers etc as with normal case creation. The publisher does bypass required fields on the Page Layouts.  You may see a red error when attempting to create a case through the side panel which could be the reflection of a validation rule or trigger being invoked.  You can also get other meaningful messages in this dialog box.  Ensure when setting up the Global Action for Creating an New Record for Salesforce for Outlook  (see article 000192820 ) that it accommodates validation rules, triggers etc.
