Can I @mention a User in a Chatter Email Reply?

Description When I receive an email notification because I was tagged in a Chatter message, when I respond to the email, it posts to the Chatter. Question is, can I tag someone in the email response @cherie..., so they will get notified? It doesn't seem to work.
Resolution The only way you can @mention someone is in Salesforce via a browser or in Salesforce 1 app.  

The reason for this is the Salesforce Chatter Object  finds the Person / User from the characters presented in the @mention and then you select the User from the list presented.

Replying by email cannot make those kinds of decisions for you.
