AP0 Major Release and Preferred System Maintenance Windows are Changing - FAQs

With the Winter ‘15 release*, we will be moving the preferred system maintenance window for the AP0 instance to 16:00 - 20:00 UTC (1:00 - 5:00 JST). The AP0 preferred system maintenance window will remain on the Sunday following the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month.  We will also be moving the AP0 major release window** to 16:00 - 21:00 UTC (1:00 - 6:00 JST). The AP0 major release window will remain on Sunday for specific dates posted to trust.salesforce.com.

 

*Currently targeted for September 2014; date subject to change

 

**Major release maintenance occurs three times per year during the major release maintenance window indicated for your instance. The instance will be unavailable for up to five minutes within the major release maintenance window.

 
  1. What is the change?

    1. With the Winter ‘15 release, we will be moving the preferred system maintenance window for the AP0 instance to 16:00 - 20:00 UTC (1:00 - 5:00 JST). The AP0 preferred system maintenance window will remain on the Sunday following the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month.  

    2. We will also be moving the AP0 major release window to 16:00 - 21:00 UTC (1:00 - 6:00 JST). The AP0 major release window will remain on Sunday for specific dates posted to trust.salesforce.com.

 
  1. Why are we making this change?

    1. We are adjusting the preferred system maintenance and release maintenance windows to better align with non-peak business hours.  

    2. We will also no longer update the AP0 preferred system maintenance, AP0 release maintenance, CS5 and CS6 release maintenance windows with respect to daylight saving time in the U.S.

 
  1. When is this change taking effect?

    1. With the Winter ‘15 release, we will be moving the preferred system maintenance window and major release window for the AP0 instance.

 
  1. What action must I take?

    1. You should be aware of the new preferred system maintenance and major release windows and adjust scheduled activities accordingly.

      1. For example, if you have scheduled jobs that run during the hours of your maintenance window, make sure to adjust them accordingly.  This includes jobs that are scheduled on Salesforce as well as jobs on external systems that interface with Salesforce.

      2. If your org has online users during the maintenance window, please make sure their business is adjusted accordingly.
