AP1 Major Release Maintenance Window is Changing - FAQs

With the Winter ‘15 release*, we will be moving the AP1 major release window** to 16:00 - 21:00 UTC. The AP1 major release window will remain on Sunday for specific dates posted to trust.salesforce.com.

 

*Currently targeted for September 2014; date subject to change

 

**Major release maintenance occurs three times per year during the major release maintenance window indicated for your instance. The instance will be unavailable for up to five minutes within the major release maintenance window.

 
  1. What is the change?

    1. With the Winter ‘15 release, we will be moving the AP1 major release window to 16:00 - 21:00 UTC. The AP1 major release window will remain on Sunday for specific dates posted to trust.salesforce.com.

 
  1. Why are we making this change?

    1. We are adjusting the release maintenance window in order to ensure all APAC instances are on the same release window. We will also no longer update the AP1 major release maintenance window, CS5 release maintenance window, and CS6 release maintenance window with respect to daylight saving time in the U.S.

    2. For those customers in countries observing daylight saving time, the new variance will now be one hour instead of two.  

    3. For those customers in countries who do not have daylight saving time, the release maintenance window will no longer change.

 
  1. When is this change taking effect?

    1. With the Winter ‘15 release, we will be moving the major release window for the AP1 instance.

 
  1. What action must I take?

    1. You should be aware of the major release windows and adjust scheduled activities accordingly.

      1. For example, if you have scheduled jobs that run during the hours of your maintenance window, make sure to adjust them accordingly.  This includes jobs that are scheduled on Salesforce as well as jobs on external systems that interface with Salesforce.

      2. If your org has online users during the maintenance window, please make sure their business is adjusted accordingly.
