Salesforce1 login tracking using Identity Event Logs

Description Using Login History entries to determine which users are utilizing the Salesforce1 Connected App can be challenging. It's best practice to create a custom report type between Users and Identity Event Logs to show Salesforce1 usage. Also keep in mind that a simple listing of Users on Salesforce1 Connected Apps can be obtained via the Connected App usage links under Manage Apps | Connected Apps Oauth Usage

 Note: This custom report type can not be created on Professional Edition orgs as they do not have access to the Identity Event Logs (Users) object mentioned below

Establish a new report type

  1. From Setup, click Create | Report Types.

  2. Click New Custom Report Type.

  3. Enter the following values.

    1. Primary Object: Users

    2. Report Type Label: A unique label, such as Identity Users

    3. Report Type Name: This field automatically uses the label; change it if you want a different name.

    4. Description: Give it a useful description others might see.

    5. Store in Category: Pick a category for this report, such as Administrative Reports.

    6. Deployment Status: Keep as In Development until you’re ready to deploy this report for other users to see.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select Click to relate to another object.

  6. Select Identity Event Logs (Users).



NEXT:

Create the report

  1. Click the Reports tab.

  2. Click New Report....

  3. In Administrative Reports, select Identity Users.

  4. Click Create.

  5. Drag-and-drop fields onto the report, as desired.

    For example, some useful fields for this report are UsernameUser IDApp: Connected App NameTimestamp and Usage Type.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Give the report a name, such as Identity Connected App Usage.

  8. Click Save (or Save and Run Report to see the results, immediately).


 Note: This custom report type can not be created on Professional Edition orgs as they do not have access to the Identity Event Logs (Users) object mentioned above
