Salesforce for Outlook displays the error "unable to download token from naX.salesforce.com"

|Description||When using Salesforce for Outlook or the Side Panel, the plug-in will sometimes display the message "unable to download token from naX.salesforce.com". This error message may also appear when installing or upgrading the plug-in.
The error message is usually caused by a security settings in IE. These settings determine what Salesforce for Outlook can and cannot do, regardless of what browser you use in your day-to-day work.
