Opportunity/Activity report does not change based on the hierarchy

I have a Dynamic Dashboard (or report) that's not showing the correct results based on the Role Hierarchy the User is on. The Report is showing the correct role (the role of the user) but the records are showing some records owned by users that are in a different role. If I change the role hierarchy to another role and go back to the one of the user and run the report, the results are correct. Learn how to resolve this issue below.
The User that saved the report had no role assigned to him/her. The resolution would be to assign a role to the user and clone or save the report with a role assigned.
