"Invalid username or password" error while logging in to Chatter Desktop.

Description Unable to login to Chatter desktop getting error “Your login attempt has failed. The username or password may be incorrect, or your location or login time may be restricted. Please contact the administrator at your company for help.”
Resolution The issue could be because of the Cookies blocked in Internet Explorer, even if the default web browser is not Internet Explorer or might be because of corrupt folder so to start troubleshooting follow the below steps : Unable to login to Chatter Desktop

If this information doesn't help try the steps below:

1. Close Chatter Desktop (right-click on the "C" icon in the system tray and click on "Close")
2. Uninstall Chatter Desktop from Add/Remove Programs (in Windows XP) & Programs & Feature (in Window Vista, Windows 7 and above) option under the Control Panel.
3. Navigate to and delete the following two folders:
a. The Shared Local Object (SLO) folder 


Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\sfdc-desktop*

b. The Encrypted Local Store (ELS)

/[USER]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/sfdc-desktop*

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\sfdc-desktop*

4. Download Chatter Desktop.

6  Log in to chatter desktop and it should run as expected.
