Inactive Sandboxes Subject to Deletion

  1. What is happening?

    1. Any Sandbox that has not been accessed for 180 days or longer is subject to deletion.


Note: This change does NOT terminate or change any Sandbox subscriptions customers have. If they have a Sandbox subscription and their Sandbox is deleted due to inactivity, their subscription will remain in effect and they will be able to create a new Sandboxes per usual.

  1. Why is Salesforce doing this?

    1. Salesforce is performing routine clean-ups of inactive Sandboxes to better utilize capacity and support growth.

  1. What action do I need to take?

    1. If you would like to continue to use any existing Sandbox, then log in to the Sandbox at least once every 179 days.

    2. If you do not log into a Sandbox for 180 days, it may be deleted.

  1. How will I be notified about this?

    1. A notification will be emailed to system administrators if they have a Sandbox that has not been logged in to for 90 days or longer. The email will identify the Sandbox, when it was last logged in to, and the time remaining before the Sandbox is subject to deletion (typically 90 days from when the first notification was sent).

    2. System administrators will receive separate notifications for each inactive Sandbox.

    3. Automated notifications will be sent 90, 60 and 30 days out from a Sandbox becoming subject for deletion.

  1. Once a Sandbox is deleted, can restore the data?

    1. No, once a Sandbox is deleted, the data cannot be restored.
