Unable to login due to "Invalid username or password" error

Salesforce has discontinued support for Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8 and some features will not function when accessed from these browsers. Salesforce Customer Support will not investigate issues related to Internet Explorer 7 and 8.

If you've reset your password or changed your username and receive an "Invalid username or Password" error the next time you attempt to login with your new credentials, try these troubleshooting steps:


Google Chrome

Uninstall, then re-install Chrome.


Microsoft Internet Explorer

Update to the latest version of Internet Explorer, then follow our "Configuring Internet Explorer" documentation.


More troubleshooting help

  • Have your administrator manually edit your username (and remove any spaces at the end of the username) and save.
  • Use (for example: instead of if the login issue is happening in the Sandbox environment.
