Connect for Outlook Retiring Winter '16 - FAQ

With the Winter ‘16 release*, we will retire and end support for Connect for Outlook. We are encouraging users to migrate to Salesforce for Outlook, the application that brings Salesforce directly into your Outlook environment. Connect for Outlook Feature Retirement  - Frequently Asked Questions


1. What will happen when the feature is retired?

After the Winter ‘16 release, Connect for Outlook will no longer save emails or sync your contacts, events and tasks between Outlook and Salesforce.

2. What action must I take?

a. If you wish to continue syncing your information, you will need to uninstall Connect for Outlook. You should then follow our step-by-step guide to setting up Salesforce for Outlook, Getting Microsoft Outlook and Salesforce in Sync.

b. To get started on Salesforce for Outlook, see the Salesforce for Outlook Quick Start page in Help & Training.

c. Administrators can get a list of Connect for Outlook users in their organization by going to the Salesforce application > Setup > Login History, and either sorting the results by the Application field, or exporting them to a csv file, then using a spreadsheet to filter all rows with a connection coming from Connect for Outlook.

3. What are the differences between the old and new product

a. Salesforce for Outlook provides functionalities similar to Connect for Outlook to sync contacts, events and tasks, and saves important emails into Salesforce. Enhanced features are also available, such as the Side Panel Publisher, which allows you to create new Salesforce records directly from Outlook.

b. Salesforce for Outlook supports Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows 8, and Outlook 2007, 2010, and 2013.
