|Knowledge Article Number||000206363|
The default log location for SharePoint 2010 is:
SharePoint Central Administration site
Configure diagnostic logging:
Turn up verbose on “Chatter for SharePoint” solution (salesforce.com category):
You can check the current trace level, here “unexpected” (default level for Chatter for SharePoint trace).
Revert to the initial trace level in two ways:
After you have made the changes that you want on the Diagnostic Logging page, click OK.
In order to see the “Chatter for Sharepoint” run in “verbose” tracing mode you need to recycle the application pool of the web application where it is deployed (see IIS section below)
Open IIS manager: (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770472(v=ws.10).aspx)
Retrieve application pool name:
Select the web application (site in IIS terminology) where the “Chatter for Sharepoint” solution is deployed: (here “SharePoint - FBA 44444”)
Click on “Basic Settings” (right-hand actions panel):
Note the application pool name (here “SharePoint - FBA 44444”):
Click “Cancel” -> click on left hand connections panel “Applications Pools”:
Select the correct application pool ( here “SharePoint - FBA 44444”)
Explicit recycling of the application pool:
Right click on the selected application pool (here SharePoint - FBA 44444) -> Click on “Recycle…”
Check default IIS application pool recycling configuration:
Click on right hand action “Advance settings”:
here we can see that the application pool is recycled on a daily basis at 1:09 PM.
If the trace level for the “Chatter for Sharepoint “ is changed then it will be effective starting from this point of time without any explicit recycling.
