How Are Chatter Free Impacted By User Sharing?
|Knowledge Article Number||000206549|
|Description||When Organizational-Wide Sharing Defaults for the User object are set to "Private," Users with Chatter Free licenses are unable to see any other Users in the org. Sharing Rules and Manual Sharing are unable to give the Chatter Free User access to other Users.|
|Resolution||Due to the fact that Chatter Free Users do not have a Role, they are restricted sharing users. This means that Sharing Rules and Manual Sharing do not apply to any users with Chatter Free licenses. To workaround this, Private Chatter Groups can provide access to users within the Group. Additionally, Communities can be leveraged to open up sharing and giving visibility access.
Note: Role is not available for both Chatter free licenses and chatter external license users
