Record View Resources Retiring Summer ‘15

 

What is changing?

With the Summer ‘15 release*, we will retire the Record View Resources functionality in Chatter REST API and Chatter in Apex, and the Record View Resources functionality will no longer be supported by Salesforce. This means that if you attempt to use the Record View Resources functionality after the Summer ‘15 release, you will receive an error message: “HTTP Error 403 Forbidden.”
 
*Currently targeted for June 2015; date subject to change
 

What do you recommend?

We understand that this retirement of Record View Resources may cause some disruption for some customers and we are here to help. As an alternative, we encourage you to use Force.com REST API to pull record data. Also, you can read this Knowledge Article for more details regarding this change.

We’re retiring Record View Resources in order to focus our efforts on other innovations at this time.

1. What exactly will happen after the retirement date passes?

The Record View Resources functionality in Chatter REST API and Chatter in Apex permissions will be turned off.  If you attempt to use the Record View Resources functionality after the Summer ‘15 release, you will receive an error message: “HTTP Error 403 Forbidden.”

 

2. Will I be able to access my data after the retirement date?

No, the access to the APIs will be turned off and if you attempt to use the APIs, you will receive an error message: “HTTP Error 403 Forbidden.”

 

3. What is my alternative?

As an alternative, we encourage you to use Force.com REST API to pull record data.
