Spring 15 - Add Email to Person Accounts using Salesforce for Outlook Side Panel

By default, the Salesforce for Outlook Side Panel adds emails to Person Accounts as contacts but with Spring 15 release it’s easy to set your Outlook configurations so that the Side Panel adds emails to Person Accounts as accounts instead.

This feature is already enabled and visible for Users, administrator and developers in orgs with Person Accounts enabled


Resolution To enable this feature, follow the steps below

1. In Salesforce Setup, click Desktop Administration | Outlook Configurations.

2. Edit the Outlook configuration for which you want your teams to add emails to person accounts as accounts.

3. Check the box for the Associate to Person Accounts as Accounts option

If you do not see this option, make sure Person Account is Enabled and configured in your org and the box for the Side Panel is checked under Data Settings
