Email to Case: Do inbound email messages associate to Person Account records?

When a Salesforce Organization receives an inbound email via Email to Case (On Demand), the system will query the Contact object for a Contact record based on the inbound sender 'from' email address. Once a unique Contact record is located in Salesforce, the record will be associated to the new Case.
If there are multiple Contacts with the same email address, or no matching Contacts, a Case will be created without a Contact association.
If the sender 'from' email address is related to unique Person Account record of the same email address, the association to the Case will occur.
