How to Mass Update Usernames without Sending Email Notifications
|Knowledge Article Number||000213266|
|Description||In cases like a company name change, it may be necessary to update the usernames on a large number of records at once. For each username change, an email notification is generated addressed to the user being updated. There is no way to disable these notifications.|
|Resolution||However, you can disable email for the entire organization temporarily by navigating to Setup | Administer | Email Administration | Deliverability. Then change the Access level to "No Access" and save.
After changing the access level to no access, the emails notifications generated to alert users that their username has been changed will not be sent out.
Be sure to change this back once the update has been completed. No access means no emails will be sent out, including system emails and password reset emails.
