Default value appears for subscribers after it is removed from a profile attribute in Marketing Cloud

In an Enterprise 2.0 account, the default value is still present for many subscribers after you clear it from a profile attribute.
This value is hard-coded on the subscriber record. When the default value is removed from the profile attribute, the value remains set on the subscriber record. Ensure that default values are set only for profile attributes that are intended to remain permanently.
