Why are we unable to directly create Google Doc from Salesforce?
|Knowledge Article Number||000213869|
|Description||Customers could previously create Google Docs directly from any Salesforce record related list by clicking "Add Google Doc" button on the "Google Docs, Notes, & Attachments" section. Clicking the "Add Google Doc" button would show options such as New Document, New Spreadsheet, New Presentation and Add Existing. With the changes being introduced on 4/15, we will be removing ability to create New Google Docs.
Beginning April 15, 2015, customers will experience new behavior when adding Google Files, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, in Salesforce. Users will continue to be able to link to Google Files from Salesforce, however they will no longer be able to create new files directly from the application. However you will be able to still view existing Google Docs and add "Add Existing" Google Docs to the record. The reason for this change is because Google is making changes to their API, which require that we modify the Google Docs integration behavior to prevent any disruption in service.
Following the update, the “Add Google Doc” button will prompt users to enter the URL of the Google Doc they’d like to add to Salesforce.
Once the URL has been entered and saved, the Google Doc will be available within the Attachments related list or within Salesforce Content.

For Enterprise and Above editions, you have a work around of using Files Connect.
