Email to Case: What occurs to inbound messages if the Email to Case Routing Address is deleted

Description If an active Email to Case Routing Address is deleted from:

Setup | Customize | Cases | Email-to-Case

What will occur when an inbound email message is forwarded to the unique Salesforce Email Services Address?
Resolution Depending on how the local email system is forwarding/redirecting email from the internal routing address to the Salesforce Email Services Address, either:

1) The Routing Address inbox will receive a Mailer-Daemon NDR response


2) The original sender of the email will receive a Mailer-Daemon NDR response.
