SFO 2.8 Sync Method Changes

|Description||In earlier versions of SFO, version 2.7.x and older, as a Salesforce Administrator you did not have an option to preselect the sync methods or control this option for your users. With the Summer 15 release, SFO 2.8.x will allow you to make this selection on behalf of your users from their Outlook Configuration in Salesforce.
By default, the Manual sync method is selected when you install SFO and run the wizard. You can change the default value to Automatic and also decide if you want to restrict you users from making changes to it
The configuration section : Setup | Administration Setup | Desktop Administration | Outlook Configuration | <select a configuration>
1- The number 1 below "Set default sync setting to Sync All Outlook Items" will allow administrators to change the Default sync method to Automatic so when users run the SFO wizard after this they will see Automatic sync method is selected but they still have the ability to change it to Manual if they want to. If you need to restrict them from changing this then you would need to check the box for "Don't let users change their sync settings"
2- The number box below, "Don't let users change their sync settings" will only restrict the user to make a selection on the SFO wizard Sync method screen. If it is checked by itself only, the selection menu during the SFO wizard will be greyed out and the default selection would be Manual

If as a Salesforce Administrator you need to restrict all your users or certain users from making changes to the sync method, you first need to select an Outlook configuration that these users are assigned to or simply create a new one and assign your users to it and then edit it and make a selection.
