Salesforce for Outlook - Location of the log files

Description The Salesforce For Outlook (SFO) log files are as follows
  • AddinTrace.log : Contains information about the add-in loading in Outlook, Add Email button, Side Panel, etc
  • Trace.log : Contains the most information about the Sync, Add-ins, Side Panel, and more
  • Performance.log : it usually contains nothing and the file is blank. It is experimental and not being used any longer.
  • Sync.log  :  Contains information about the synchronized record, time stamps etc

The Trace log has the most information about the SFO sync
 
 
The location of the SFO Logs:  SFO version 2.5 and above %appdata%\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook\logs
SFO version 2.4.x and older %appdata%\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook\


 
Resolution
 

Steps to obtain the Salesforce for Outlook log files:

1.  Close Salesforce for Outlook by right clicking on the system tray icon and clicking on Exit

2. Click on Start and type in %Appdata%\Salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook

3. You should either see the logs in that location or a folder name "Logs"



Note*
the DB folder contains the Salesforce for Outlook sync database and it can be useful to troubleshoot sync issues


 

SFO version 2.5 and above %appdata%\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook\LOGS

SFO version 2.4.x and older %appdata%\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook\


 
4. With the required Files selected right click and Select "Send to Compressed (Zipped) Folder" and Select OK. This will copy all the files to a zipped folder with the name that tends to be random.

5. You can attach the Zipped file your case or email them to your Support rep
