An internal server error has occurred while adding Opportunity team member

Description When attempting to add an Opportunity Team member you get the below mentioned error message:

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Go to an Opportunity record 
  2. Scroll down to the Opportunity Team related list
  3. Click 'Add' to add an Opportunity Team Member
This will give you the following error message:

An internal server error has occurred: ***** - ******* (-2010799968).

"An error has occurred while processing your request. The support team has been notified of the problem. If you believe you have additional information that may be of help in reproducing or correcting the error, please contact Salesforce Support. Please indicate the URL of the page you were requesting, any error id shown on this page as well as any other related information. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you again for your patience and assistance. And thanks for using! ​"

Resolution This error message generally appears when there is no page layout assigned for Opportunity team on the user's profile.

Please follow below steps to assign Opportunity team page layout to user profile:
  1. Go to Setup | App Setup | Customize | Opportunities | Opportunity team | Page layout
  2. Click on 'Page Layout Assignment'
  3. Click 'Edit Assignment' button
  4. Click on the Profile whom you want to assign the Layout
  5. Select the Page Layout you want to use within 'Page Layout to use' so that it can be assigned to the selected profile
  6. Click Save
Now you would not get this error message again.
