Release Preparation

Make sure you're aware of new functionality and avoid getting caught off guard by modified features or new conflicts with existing customizations.  Follow the below guidelines to ensure smooth and hassle free production releases.
  • Join the *Release Readiness & Feature Adoption* Success Community group.  Use links in left pane to review release notes, understand key features, and be aware of release dates.
  • Utilize the HTML version of release notes to quickly navigate to important areas.  Determine key areas of the release notes which must be reviewed and delegate responsibility to the appropriate owners.
  • Push the release to your Sandbox ASAP and test, allowing enough time to address found issues ahead of the production release.
  • Document critical functionality and business processes that need to be validated in the Sandbox ahead of the production release.  Once the Sandbox is upgraded, delegate testing and document results.
  • Keep the list of critical functionality and business processes flexible.  Always be prepared to add/edit/delete to ensure testing models keep pace with your evolving use of Salesforce.
  • Ensure you are setup to receive critical release notifications from Salesforce.  See knowledge base article here.
