"Upload Error: Ensure correct delimiter was selected" error in Import Wizard

This error is returned when the file uploaded by the Import Wizard cannot be read.  There are many possible causes of this behavior, however, the common causes are outlined below. 

Common causes

  • The delimiter selected does not match the delimiter present in the selected file.

For example: The default CSV option is selected, but the file is tab delimited.
  • There are unsupported characters in the file name (& < > / \\ " ' ? +).
  • The file is a zipped file (.zip).
  • The file is encrypted.
