Can you include Self-Service Portal Users in Validation Rules?

|Description||Is it possible to reference SSP Users in Validation Rules to either include them or exclude them?|
|Resolution||Unfortunately, SSP Users cannot be referenced in Validation Rules. An SSP User isn't the same as normal Salesforce Users because they don't have a User record or a Profile. Since the SSP User isn't a traditional User, we use the User assigned to the "Automated Case User" under Setup | Build | Cases | Support Settings. When the Validation Rule is fired, it's fired in the context of that "Automated Case User" and not the SSP User. This is expected functionality.|
