Legacy Data Import Wizards Feature Retirement

Salesforce previously communicated that the retirement of the legacy data import tools would take place in the Summer ‘16 release. The retirement date has now been rescheduled to the Spring ‘17 release* in order to provide customers with more time to manage the transition. 

What is the change and when is it happening?
Salesforce is replacing and retiring the individual legacy data import tools for the following in Spring '17:
  • Leads
  • Campaign Members
  • Solutions
  • My Organization’s Accounts and Contacts
  • Custom Objects
  • Person Accounts
With Spring ‘17, the legacy data import tools for Accounts, Person Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Solutions, Campaign Members and Custom Objects will no longer be accessible on the legacy import tool launch page in Setup or via URL. In addition, the legacy import tool launch page will no longer be available. The Data Import Wizard and Data Loader will be the only two remaining tools available to import data.

  • The legacy import My Accounts and Contacts was retired with Winter '16
  • The unified Data Import Wizard will include Person Account data importing with Spring '16. See the Spring '16 release notes for more details. 

Why are we retiring this product?
We listen to our community of users, and you asked us for an import tool with an enhanced user interface and more features. The unified Data Import Wizard combines all of the functionality provided by our legacy import wizards while providing a guided import process. In order to focus on providing the best experience with the unified Data Import Wizard, we are retiring the legacy import tools.
What do you recommend?
We understand that this retirement may cause some disruption for customers manually accessing the legacy data import tools. We encourage you to begin utilizing the unified Data Import Wizard, and let us know your ideas for improvements via the IdeaExchange.
