Knowledge Article Number 000230806
Description How do I add more fields or columns in results when searching for any record?
Resolution Below are steps to modify search layouts:

1) Search Layout: Customize which fields display for users in search results, search filter fields, lookup dialogs, the recent records lists on tab home pages in Salesforce Classic.
You can specify a different set of fields to show in each search layout. The settings apply to all users in your organization and Salesforce Customer Portal.

To add more field column when using Global Search for any record search, Below are the steps:

Click on Setup | Customize | Select your desired object | Search layout | Edit Search layout | Add the fields from "Available box to Selected box" and click on Save button.

For more details see Search Layout.

2) Lookup Dialog: After enabling enhanced lookups, specify which fields users can use to filter lookup search results. If you don't specify any fields, your users can't use filters in enhanced lookup dialogs. Below are the steps to use Lookup Dialog:

Click on Setup | Customize | Select your desired object | Search layout | Edit Lookup Dialog | Add the fields from Available box to Selected box and click on Save button.

For more details see Specify Lookup Filters.

3) Object tab example (Account tab) from Search Layout: The below steps will help you to add more field columns on "Recent Viewed Records" on standard or custom object:

Click on Setup | Customize | Select your desired object | Search layout | Edit eg: Object (Account) tab | Add the fields from Available box to Selected box and click on Save button.

4) Object List View on Search Layout: To add button option on Any List View, Below are the steps:

Click on Setup | Customize | Select your desired object | Search layout | Edit example : Object (Account) List View | Add Button | click on Save button.

For more details see Add or Remove Buttons on a List View.

Note: The ability to modify Lookup Dialog, Tab, List View, and Filter Fields may not be present for all standard objects. For example, all search layout configuration options are not available for the Activity (Task or Events), Service Contracts, and Pricebook Entry objects. Corresponding search layout configuration options for each object are available based on standard application architecture and each object's unique relationships and function with regard to other objects.
