Reset the Dataflow Definition JSON in Wave Analytics

Knowledge Article Number 000231058
Description You may wish to reset or clear out the Dataflow Definition. This may be due to having completed frontloading data and transitioning to a maintenance dataflow. This may be due to extensive changes to the dataflow that are not working as expected and you wish to start from scratch. Whatever the case, resetting the Dataflow JSON is a quick process.
Resolution Before you begin, we recommend backing up the existing Dataflow definition file.

Download existing JSON

1. In Wave Analytics, click the Gear icon and then click Data Monitor to open the data monitor.
The Jobs View of the data monitor appears by default.
2. Select Dataflow View.
3. To download the dataflow definition file, click Download in the actions list (on the right side).

Tip: We recommend naming the file with a descriptive timestamped name (something like "Dataflow_MM-DD-YYYY.json") so you can easily reference it if you need to.

Upload "blank" JSON

1. In your favorite text or JSON editor, create a file that contains only the following:

{ }
Save this with a descriptive name ("blank.json" is popular).
2. In Wave Analytics, click the Gear icon and then click Data Monitor to open the data monitor.
The Jobs View of the data monitor appears by default.
3. Select Dataflow View.
4. To upload the blank definition file, click Upload in the actions list (on the right side). Locate and upload the file you created.

Note: This will not remove existing datasets. You'll need to remove those separately if you wish. Any existing dashboards and lens based on the removed datasets will also need to be removed.
