The New Task button is not visible when selecting the Task Tab in Lightning Experience

Description After we enable Lightning Experience we noticed that there is no button present to create a New Task when clicking on the Task tab on the Side Navigation Bar.
Resolution With the new Lightning Experience the Task object now has its own dedicated Tab. If you find that the New Task button is not visible when clicking on this in the new User Interface you may need to add the button to the correct Activity Search Layout. To do this please use the following click path:

When using Setup in the Classic Interface

Customize > Activities > Activity Search Layouts > Edit (Activities List View)

From here check the New Task [New Task] check box and click Save

When using new Setup in Lightning Experience

Platform Tools > Objects and Fields > Object Manager > Activity > Search Layouts > Drop Down on List View > Edit

From here check the New Task [New Task] check box and click Save

After following the above steps you should now be able to see the New Task button when selecting Tasks from the Side Bar in Lightning Experience.
