Threshold for Percentile Threshold Alerts check frequency

Knowledge Article Number 000232591
Learn how often your Thresholds are checked for Percentile Threshold Alerts and what the data is looking for below in Social Hub.
The threshold for Percentile Threshold Alerts is checked every 1 minute. The timespan selected in your configuration refers to the size of the window that you would like to look at.
  • If you select a timespan of 24 hours, this means that the system will use 24 hours worth of data to determine the baseline volume for the threshold.
  • Likewise, if you select a timespan of 7 days, it will use the total volume for 7 days as the baseline.

Note: This doesn't refer to how far back the system is checking the Threshold. Percentile Threshold Alerts will always compare your current set of data to the data from the timespan you've defined on prior weeks. The system will check back as far as 4 weeks where data is available, always comparing the same window in that week.

A post in ingested at 8:00 AM EST on a Monday:
  • At the time the post comes in, the system would calculate the volume for the past 24 hours. In this case, it would be (8:01 AM EST Sunday - 8:00 AM EST Monday).
  • It would then compare this to the 24 hour time period from this time last week (8:01 AM EST last Sunday - 8:00 AM EST last Monday), two weeks ago (8:01 AM EST 2 Sundays ago - 8:00 AM EST 2 Mondays ago), and three weeks ago (8:01 AM EST three Sundays ago - 8:00 AM EST three Mondays ago) (where available).
  • If the volume of posts from this week exceeds the average volume of posts from the previous weeks by the percentile defined, the Threshold Alert will be triggered.
  • Since volume can fluctuate depending on the day of the week or even the time of day, this helps to ensure you are comparing apples to apples.
